What is your Design/Builder Philosophy?
Creating interiors that functional beautifully, live comfortably and are aesthetically pleasing. I enjoy designing homes that have different spaces for the clients various needs….for example, a great space such as a den or master bedroom sitting area for curling up with a book or movie. I also love spaces for entertaining intimate groups, such as a cozy eating area in the kitchen, or smaller living room with a great furniture lay-out. My biggest design challenge is to avoid anything that is trendy. I love homes that feel classic and timeless.

What serves as your inspiration?
Our beautiful Florida landscape… shades of blues, greens and earth tones. Lots of textures in fabrics, rugs, wallcoverings and window treatments. Also, our relaxed Florida lifestyle which includes lots of entertaining both indoors and out.
Are you working on any projects that are particularly exciting right now?
I am working on a great spec home in Port Royal. The entire team including the builder and architect are working together seamlessly to create a home that is fresh and contemporary. There are lots of great areas in the home for entertaining indoors and out. The interiors area combine gorgeous limestone floors with white oak ceilings and doors, contemporary cabinetry and fixtures, and transitional furnishings in neutral tones with pops of bold color combined with matte gold accents.
What are some other color trends you are seeing?
Jewel tones such as gold, emerald green and teal blue.
It seems like many people struggle with which colors and treatments to use for their walls. Any hints?
Use wallcoverings, there are so many great textures and colors available. Hand painted grass cloth is a favorite of mine! Also think about wood paneling, painted ship lap or tile as great material for wall applications.
What are some of the things that inspire your design work?
My client’s lifestyle. I ask lots of questions about how they live. Do they entertain often? Do they have family that will visit regularly? Do they like smaller cozy spaces, or large open spaces?
What is your Fee Method? (please be specific)
I charge an hourly fee for the time spent making selections for things such as cabinetry, flooring, tile, etc. I also charge an hourly fee for the time spent creating a complete set of ID drawings for the builder/contractor. When it comes to providing furniture, fabrics, rugs, art, lighting, etc…it depends on the project. Quite often, I will take a discount off of the retail price.
