Over the 3-day show you will tour Designer Dream Rooms, learn about the latest interior design trends and be the first to see the new furniture collections for 2014. You will have the opportunity to learn from more than 20 home décor and industry experts who will present free seminars. Tour the Art & Design Exhibit and see fine furniture paired with international works of art.

The culmination of the 3-day Home Design Show features the Dream Room awards presentation recognizing the People’s Choice and Designer’s Choice.

Winners are selected based on the number of votes received in each category. Each visitor to the Home Design Show is issued voting tickets upon arrival. As you visit our 45 Home Furnishing Stores, you will see the Dream Rooms Icon in the various windows. Be sure to use your tickets to cast your vote in the ballot boxes for your favorite Dream Room!

The voting will be tabulated and the winners announced during the Wine reception on the final day of the Home Design Show.

“USING UNIVERSAL DESIGN & AGING IN PLACE DESIGN STRATEGIES IN RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS WITH GREEN IN MIND”

There are 78 million baby boomers retiring in the next 25 years according the US Census Bureau. Seniors want to live in their homes and be active in their community. This presentation provides an overview of “Universal Design” and “Aging in Place” design strategies that can be used in residential and commercial applications with green in mind.

  • To understand the physical and emotional limitations of the “aging” baby boomer
  • To understand the distinction between universal design and aging in place and the residential and commercial applications
  • To understand the mobility issues of the aging population
  • To understand how lighting affects this population

“NEW MEDIA IN MARVIN GRALNICK’S ARTWORK”

Captiva Island resident Marvin Gralnick’s work sends a positive message of hope based on love, kindness and compassion. Living on Captiva Island he came to know famous artist Robert Rauschenberg, who had a large working studio on the island. Gralnick now works closely with Lawrence Voytek, who was Rauschenberg’s fabricator. Gralnick currently is focused on painting, sculpture and large installations.

Suzanne Snider has been working with or representing Central American artists for 12 years including Alejandro Aróstegui, Guillermo Trujillo, Cesar Izquierdo, Marcia Salas, and the works of the late Benjamin Cañas. She currently is the director/curator of Ford Fine Art in Delray Beach.
