“French Architecture, Furniture & Décor”
Presented by Jean Renoux of IAATS

Attention: Architects and Interior Designers! Art & Architectural Tours & Seminars (IAATS) of Sarasota invites you to a CEU presented by Jean Renoux:
“French Architecture, Furniture & Décor”
The Baroque (the word comes from a Portuguese name) originated in Italy and quickly became the rage of Europe. Then as a counter movement, came an essentially French style, the Rocaille or Louis XV style later known as Rococo. Financial problems and the re-discovery of Pompeii will create the Neo-Classical Style, that will influence American architecture. The French Revolution gave way to the Empire style and right after came many new ideas grown out of the Industrial Revolution: Art Nouveau, Art Deco, precursor and competition to the Modernist Movement. We will look at all these movements and how they can be re-invented into our design and also look at what can be used today when wanting to be more conscious about the environment. Immerse yourself in the legacy and history of French décor, architecture and furniture, taking a vicarious time transcendental journey.

January 29 - Color: A Visual Language - 8 HSW
8:00am - 4:30pm

While color preferences can drive residential interiors, they are insufficient for most contract applications. Yet many clients expect designers to yield to preference alone. Experience and intuition keep designers from making serious color mistakes. 'Color: A Visual Language' reinforces what design professionals already know, and provides words to back it up. We discuss how color affects behavior, health, safety and welfare while we also explore past, present and future color trends, and apply the principles in specific contexts. This seminar includes one (1) hour dedicated to barrier-free design and one (1) hour spent addressing sustainable design issues. Filled with tints, tones and shades of humor, this seminar delivers fun and dynamic information about color applications for licensed design professionals.
